Summer at Greentopia: New Growth, New Leadership and a Greener Rochester

Summer is in full swing at Greentopia, and there is plenty happening across our gardens, green spaces and community projects.

From volunteers helping prepare the FlourGarden for the season to thousands of flowers taking root at Green Visions, this summer has been all about growth, community and building a greener future for Rochester.

Community Volunteers Bring the FlourGarden to Life

A huge thank you goes to Modern Wealth Management and Black Creek Landscaping for dedicating two days of volunteer work to the FlourGarden.

Together, volunteers cleaned up the garden, mulched the entrance to the Genesee River Trail and installed summer plantings throughout the space.

Their hard work helped get the FlourGarden looking its best for summer and ready to welcome the community.

Meet Our New Urban Farm Manager, Lisa Brayda

We are excited to welcome Lisa Brayda to the Greentopia and Green Visions team as our new Urban Farm Manager.

After a journey that has taken her through many states, jobs and communities, Lisa has found her way to Rochester. With 15 years of experience working in the coffee and agricultural industries, she brings a deep appreciation for people, place and, of course, flowers.

Lisa has already hit the ground running, helping guide the next chapter of our urban farming work and Green Visions.

Thousands of Flowers Are Taking Root

The growing season is officially underway.

Thousands of flowers that began their journey in the Garden Factory greenhouse have now been planted in the ground at Green Visions.

Throughout the season, these flowers will transform our urban growing spaces while supporting Green Visions' larger mission of creating opportunities for young adults through hands-on job training, mentorship and workforce skills.

As the gardens continue to grow, we are excited to share more of what is blooming and the people helping make it possible.

Growing a Greener Rochester Together

None of this work happens alone.

From volunteers giving their time to new team members bringing their experience and passion, every person who contributes helps us move closer to a greener, more vibrant Rochester.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support Greentopia, Green Visions and our work throughout the community.

Here’s to a summer of growth.
