Urban Farm Manager
(Production & Sales Lead)
Greentopia is seeking a full-time Urban Farm Manager to lead operations at our one-acre urban farm in downtown Rochester. This role is central to our Green Visions: Growing Healthy Futures workforce development program and combines hands-on farming, product sales, and program participant support. The ideal candidate is both a skilled grower and a strong communicator—someone who can produce high-quality crops while also building relationships and driving sales at local markets and retail outlets.
Position Overview
The Urban Farm Manager is responsible for overseeing the full farm-to-market cycle, including crop planning, production, and direct sales. This role also supports workforce development programming by helping train and mentor program participants alongside Greentopia staff.

Plan, plant, and manage crops across a one-acre urban flower farm
Oversee daily farm operations including irrigation, harvesting, and maintenance
Develop seasonal farm plans to maximize yield, quality, and profitability
Manage supplies, equipment, and farm budget

Lead the sale of farm products at farmers markets, including the Rochester Public Market
Build and maintain relationships with retail partners and explore new sales channels
Support expansion into retail and online sales opportunities
Ensure strong product presentation and customer experience
Collaborating with senior staff to prepare budgets and financial reports.

Assist in delivering hands-on training as part of a 10-week workforce development program
Mentor and supervise program participants in farm tasks and job readiness skills
Support volunteer days, tours, and community events
Ensuring all staff and volunteers adhere to health and safety regulations.
Assisting with the recruitment and training of new staff members.
Help maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and accessible learning environment

Assist in the expansion of on-site volunteer opportunities that welcome individuals of all ages and abilities
Assist in the development of programming that engages community members beyond the core workforce development cohort (ages 18–24)
Build relationships with local, like-minded, organizations to increase access for underserved populations, including veterans, individuals with developmental disabilities, immigrant communities, and families
Provide an inclusive, accessible, and supportive farm environment for all participants
Identify opportunities to grow the program’s reach and better serve the surrounding community

Experience in farming, horticulture, or urban agriculture
Ability to manage both production and sales responsibilities
Strong organizational and communication skills
Comfort working with diverse populations, including youth and community participants
Experience with markets, retail, or customer-facing roles is a plus
Passion for agriculture, education, and community impact

Compensation & Benefits
This is a full-time position with a salary range of $45,000–$50,000, commensurate with experience. Greentopia offers a generous benefits package, which may include health insurance, life insurance, dental, paid time off, and professional development opportunities.
The role also provides a flexible work schedule that reflects the seasonal nature of farming and market activities, including occasional evenings and weekends during peak seasons.
