Green Visions Spotlight: Meet Julius Branch

At Green Visions, we don’t just grow flowers. We grow confidence, skills, work ethic, and future leaders.

This month, we’re proud to share the story of Julius Branch, one of our dedicated Green Visions participants. His journey over the past year is a powerful reminder of why this program matters and what can happen when young people are given the opportunity, support, and environment they need to grow.

Julius joined Green Visions in March 2025 with quiet determination and an open mind. During the winter program, he showed up ready to learn, listen, and take in everything he could. He was especially engaged with guest speakers, asking thoughtful questions and exploring the career opportunities available to him.

Through YouScience training, Julius discovered career paths that aligned with his strengths, skills, and values. Green Visions was also his first experience in a work setting. He had never had a job before, but he stepped into the opportunity with focus and commitment. He did not just adjust to the experience, he thrived.

Julius quickly earned his 10-hour OSHA certification and began building hands-on skills in urban agriculture. He learned how to prepare soil, identify plants, seed, and understand what it takes to get a farm ready for the growing season.

After seeing his dedication, we invited Julius to continue with the summer program. That’s when he truly became an anchor of the landscaping crew. He learned how to operate heavy machinery, plant, mulch, weed, and help care for green spaces through the heat of the summer.

When harvest season arrived, Julius was still right there, helping not only with the physical work of harvesting flowers, but also with marketing and selling them at the Public Market.

Green Visions is about more than building “green” skills. It is about helping young adults develop transferable professional skills that can support them in many different career paths. Julius is a clear example of that.

In November 2025, he was placed in an internship at a local logistics warehouse. For four months, including the busy holiday season, Julius showed that the work ethic he developed in the garden could carry into a completely different work environment. He was punctual, adaptable, and quickly became someone the team could count on to help troubleshoot inventory issues.

Julius’s story is not just about getting a job. It is about building a career path.

In just over a year, he has experienced the full cycle of urban farming, developed real workplace skills, earned certifications, supported his community, and proved himself in an industrial logistics setting.

We are incredibly proud of Julius and excited to see what comes next.

Stories like his are why Green Visions exists. When young people are given the tools, guidance, and opportunity to grow, they can build futures they feel proud of.

Support Green Visions and help more young adults like Julius build confidence, skills, and opportunity.
